Day 14 of 30 Days of Poetry, Autumn 2024
There’s nothing here that I can demand to hold still though I try as I may to ensnare it, to trick it, to lure it into a bog. I am born to die, and here I am doing it, spinning wild-eyed through space, using up the days like cheap sparklers, guzzling tomorrow with hot wheels worrying the road. There’s no one here to stop + stay though try as I may using up the days.
Today is a poem written from the word “ensnare” given to me by my friend and artist, Beth. I believe we all think about time passing, but especially as we get older, and definitely when we have children.
Yesterday was Isaiah’s 20th birthday! (pictured from July 4, 2021)
Thanks for reading.
I’m enjoying your series of poems, Elizabeth!
I would like to send Isaiah belated birthday greetings. How can Ido that? I don’t have any contact information for him. Could you send it to me?
Love you
