When I added “Make Use of What you Have” to the Zed Review, it was my way of saying thank you to my paid subscribers.
I had an idea of what would go on here originally, and, naturally, I lost track of it. I think I found something better.
Found poetry is poetry extracted from something else written. It can be from anywhere: a book, letters, magazine, speech, graffiti. Wherever language is, poetry can be found. It can be done by blackout or erasure or, in my case, free verse, using the language of the original text in a new way.
How I Choose My Source Material
There’s a lot of writing out in the universe. So much content. I read news, blogs, substacks, books, magazines, etc. Sometimes I come across a piece and I want to share it. But in the sharing I can’t always convey its impact on me.
This is my way.
Here I hope you enjoy both the original piece and my response.
