Shortly before COVID, I went down to the River Market and met up with a collection of other writers for a weekly, 2-hour writing meetup. Our intrepid leader,
, kept the writing group format deceptively simple: three prompts, 10 minutes each, and time to share at the end. It’s 2025 (!) now and this ever-fluid and expanding group of writers continues to meet weekly, producing beautiful writing. The name has changed, and — during COVID — the meetup moved to Zoom, leading to an incredibly meaningful and impactful community supporting each other through a dark time.
The group, called
, now has members across North America and has published its second anthology — Stellification. The book is edited by Pushcart nominee
, with and Frances Story. I cannot recommend it highly enough. I am thrilled to have three poems in this collection. Some of the writers include those I have written alongside these many years. Here’s a few you can find on Substack:
Life at the Bottom of the Canyon- Kate Mapother
- Stephen Hill
- Sandy Lynn
- Mary Sauer
- - Libby Koch
- Dana Huffer
- Elaine McMilian
- Frances Story
- Jess Whetsel
- Jenn Stark
and many more!
I hope you read it. I hope you recommend it be brought into your local bookstore and library. I hope if you are a creative person, you also find a rich creative community near you too.
There’s (already!) so many crap ass sad things to read out there on the interwebs. Here’s a chance to spend $16 and read something handmade, with heart that I can guarantee you will be one of your “good things” for 2025.
Thanks for reading. Thanks for being.
Lots of love.
P.S. You can also order it from Amazon if you prefer. It’s printed on demand at lulu.com either way. Try the code EYC5963LU2 for a discount on lulu!
