It's May 1st, which means that April — Poetry Month — is over.

A poem on a tired day
Heartbreak is molten copper.
It sounds like a train in the night.
It smells like a wet woodsmoke.
It tastes like chicory and absinthe.
It looks like an empty plate.
It feels like falling falling falling in a dream.

You can probably figure out that I poked my eye ‘round about 4/24 and started to feel better several days later. At the very least, I wanted to get back to my poems.
I do this project to challenge myself — I share it because that forces me to have somewhere it needs to be. Thanks to those who read along the way.
I’d be interested to hear feedback from anyone who read along the way what the experience was like, as whole.
Thanks again for your time!
